The county wide ban on burning is on. We've been talking fire danger for weeks now, so please keep in mind that nearly all of northwest Oregon's wildfires start because of some human act. Burn piles are a huge part of that fact, so go soak your old burn pile one more time, stir it up with a pitch fork, and soak it some more. For now, campfires in safe locations and barbecues are still okay, but don't be surprised if those also get restricted before summer is over.
The Gaston Rural Fire District holds its monthly Board Meeting on the second Monday of each month at 6:00 pm at the fire station, 102 East Main Street. These meetings are open to the public with agendas being posted the preceding Wednesday at the station.
