National Night Out gave Gaston a chance to party.
The crowd lined First Street the evening of August 5 for a free barbecue by the Knights of Pythias and a chance to get to know the folks of Gaston Fire and the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
Some of the highlights of Gaston's first-ever National Night Out included a chance for kids to ride on a fire truck, check out a sleek patrol motorcycle, and even get clocked with a radar gun as they ran down First Street (none of the kids broke the posted speed limit, so no tickets were handed out!).

p.s.: A special thank you to the Knights of Pythias for a great barbecue and to Cedar Canyon Bottled Water for supplying refreshments on a blazing hot night.
